How To: Set Up Commission Rules for Your Team
Goal
Set up automatic commission calculation so your sales team earns commissions when they close deals, deliver orders, or collect invoice payments.
Steps
Step 1: Navigate to Commission Rules
- Go to Commissions in the sidebar
- Click the "Rules" tab
- Click "Add Rule"
Step 2: Configure the Rule
Fill in:
- Name: Descriptive name (e.g., "5% Deal Won Commission")
- Entity type: What triggers the commission — Deal, Order, Invoice, or Contract
- Trigger type: When to calculate — Deal Won, Stage Reached, Order Created, Invoice Paid, etc.
- Rate percent: The commission percentage (e.g., 5%)
- Pipeline filter (optional): Only apply to deals in a specific pipeline
- Role filter (optional): Only apply to users with a specific role
- Duration: One-time, count-based (max N occurrences), or date-based
Step 3: Activate
Toggle the rule to Active. Commission records will now be created automatically when the trigger conditions are met.
Example Scenarios
| Rule | Trigger | Rate | Who Gets It |
|------|---------|------|-------------|
| Deal Close Commission | Deal Won | 5% | Deal owner |
| Order Commission | Order Created | 2% | Order creator |
| Invoice Payment Bonus | Invoice Paid | 3% | Invoice creator |
| Manager Override | Deal Won (Pipeline: Enterprise) | 1% | Sales Managers only |
How Splits Work
If a deal has commission splits configured, the commission is divided among all split members based on their percentage. For example, if a 100M VND deal at 5% is split 60/40, one member gets 3M VND and the other gets 2M VND.
Tips
- Start with a simple "Deal Won" rule at your standard commission rate
- Use role filters to give different rates to different team levels
- You can have multiple rules — they all fire independently when triggered
